The Do’s & Don'ts of High School

Updated: Jan 1, 2021

Don't you just wish that you could re-do some things in life? Well for a lot of people high school is one of those things. High school is where your teen life begins and there are going to be obstacles that you face, for which I am here to help you out. High school is a life experience that everyone has to go through, and it is what YOU make it. If you want a positive and progressive four years, then that’s what you will have if you put your mind to it.

Let’s get into the tea with the Do’s of High school. Now, the main thing you need to absolutely survive High school is good grades. I know that might seem obvious, but it’s not. If you don’t have 44 credits by graduation, you're going to be HURT to see all your friends walk across the stage except you, trust me.

Keep your group of friends to a minimal amount. There’s going to be a lot of people in high school that are going to pretend to be your friend, but instead talk about you behind your back. I remember my Middle school Principal told my 8th grade class that not everyone is your friend in High school, and to have a few friends that you can count on your fingers.

Teachers are probably the least of your problems, but they can be hard to deal with at times (especially those AP classes). You're going to have those teachers that are going to be very reasonable and understanding but let me warn you that you’re going to have teachers that are more difficult than your own Mom. Classes can get hard at times, but life is difficult, and you're going to have to know how to communicate with teachers. That’s about 50% of the time and the other 50% you're just going to have to deal with it and push through.

The Don’ts of High school are simple. For the ladies, please DON'T get into drama! There are going to be some girls that live for drama and want to pick a fight, so it’s going to be up to you to not engage and learn how to walk away. I know it might sound corny, but it’s true. Don’t listen to negative comments if you walked away from a dispute because ultimately that is not what you are in school for. You are in school to pass your classes and get a scholarship to go to college!

For the guys, avoid being that guy who thinks he can get every girl in school because of looks or being on the football or basketball team, but you can barely pass your Math class. Truthfully, majority of females are going to look at you like you're corny and they are not going to want to talk to you at all. It’s better if you try to be the smart, athletic, good looking guy that’s focused on school and does what he must do to stay on track. Here’s a little secret, the ladies LOVE a guy that is educated and has set goals for himself.
