Kyrie Irving’s sudden disappearance has raised questions from his teammates, and the NBA- where is Kyrie Irving? A video surfaced of Irving at a family event, which could be the reason why he missed four games so far. The NBA is now investigating the video, as it shows Irving was not wearing a mask.
Irving missed games since January 8th, the first season game against the Memphis Grizzlies. He missed seven games since then, and neither the NBA nor the Brooklyn Nets knew what happened or where Irving was. Kevin Durant, Irving’s teammate, was asked about his whereabouts as well.
“We have his back one hundred percent”, Durant said during a press conference (ESPN, 2020).
Durant wasn’t the only one asked about Irving’s whereabouts. When Steve Nash, NBA legend and Nets coach, was asked if Irving would return for the season he answered, “Sure” (ESPN, 2020). NBA General Manager Sean Marks put out a statement; “We will let Kyrie address his whereabouts when he returns” (ESPN, 2020). Irving is still set to miss next week and possibly two weeks of games, depending on how the NBA handles the COVID-19 protocols in Irving’s situation.
